  1. Moved from Saturday to Sunday, 2–3pm — Third Mainland traffic.

  2. The big cooler from behind the kitchen. Not the small one.

  3. Call your sister. She says you never call.

Suggested reply

Mummy I've seen it. Sunday 2pm, I'll bring the big cooler. Calling Nkechi now 🙏

Right now you are carrying 41:00 of voice notes you will never play.

That is one ordinary Tuesday, on one ordinary phone. Eight notes. Four of them matter. You will find out which four at about 11pm, or on Thursday, or never.

Three steps. Two of them are not your job.

There is nothing to install and nothing to configure. If you can forward a message, the setup is already finished.

  1. Forward the note

Save the Gistlify number once. Then forward any voice note the way you'd forward it to a friend — long-press, forward, done.

    Forward to: Gistlify

  2. Gistlify listens properly

It handles the languages people actually speak in — including all of them inside one sentence, which is the part that usually breaks transcription.

Same trick, worse offenders.

Three real shapes of voice note: the one sent at midnight by a colleague, the one buried in a family group, and the one that costs you money. Turn the page.

People who have stopped pretending they listened.

Four of the first two thousand. None of them have told their mother.

  • A woman in a green and rust patterned dress laughing at her phone against an orange wall

    Amaka O.

    Product designer, Yaba

My mother sends six minutes every single morning. I now know what she said before I brush my teeth.

  • A man in glasses and an embroidered white shirt smiling down at his phone

    Tunde A.

    Sales, Victoria Island

Client dropped a nine-minute note during a meeting. I read it under the table and answered like I'd listened.

  • A woman wearing headphones laughing while reading something on her phone outdoors

    Halima B.

    Med student, Zaria

The study group sends voice notes at 1am. Gistlify turns the whole thing into five lines I can actually revise.

  • A man in a tan jacket laughing with a phone held to his ear

    Emeka N.

    Logistics, Aba

It understands when my uncle switches to Igbo halfway through the sentence. That was the test. It passed.

The questions people actually ask.

Mostly about privacy, and rightly so.

  • Do you keep my audio?

No. The file is transcribed and then deleted, usually within a minute. We keep the text summary in your history so you can search it later — and you can wipe that with one message: send DELETE ALL.

  • Does it really understand Pidgin?

Yes, and it handles code-switching — Pidgin into English into Yoruba in the same sentence, which is how people actually speak. Igbo and Hausa are supported. Heavy background noise (generator, market, bus) is the thing that costs accuracy, not the language.

  • Do I need to install anything?

No. Gistlify is a WhatsApp contact. Save the number, forward a note, get a reply. There is no app, no signup form and no password to forget.

  • How much data does it use?

Forwarding a note costs you the same as forwarding it to a friend — the audio is already on your phone. The reply is text, so a few kilobytes. Nothing streams.

  • Can the sender tell I didn't listen?

Not from us. We never message anyone but you. What you do with the suggested reply is between you and your mother.

  • What if the summary is wrong?

Reply WRONG and you get the full transcript with timestamps, plus a second pass. Long, noisy, multi-speaker notes are where it slips, and we would rather show you the receipts than bluff.
